The young doctors do something differently than their more experienced colleagues. A study compared the two age groups and shows their differences.
What distinguishes the millennial doctor (born after 1980) from his older colleague? inVentiv Health has compared the attitudes and working methods of 100 millennial doctors with those of 100 non-millennial doctors. The study found that so-called Generation Y doctors are particularly fond of exchanging ideas with colleagues. They get 52% of their information from these contacts. However, only 18 percent of older doctors have this desire for collaborative exchange.
66 percent of millennial doctors change their way of dealing with patients because they want to maintain a new doctor-patient relationship. Millennial doctors tend to simplify information for older patients. Her older colleagues, on the other hand, simplify medical information for younger patients. 71 percent of “digital native doctors” would like their patients to inform themselves in advance on the Internet. However, only 23 percent of their medication choices are influenced by the patient's wishes. In contrast, this is 41 percent among non-millennial doctors.
