The original Hue Bridge will no longer work 100%

The original Philips Hue Bridge is a hub used to help Philips Hue bulbs work with smartphones and assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa.

Philips said its customers will notice on April 30 that if they can still use the first version of the Hue Bridge hub, it will only work if they are smart health connected to the same local network as the Philips Hue Bridge v1 app.

The company revealed for the first time last year that it would reduce support for the Hue bridge. Today, it is releasing a date, with confirmation that it does not plan to support the original devices for several years.

She started selling the Bridge about seven years ago. It’s the first big Hue device to lose connectivity, support, and patches. The second Hue Bridge is getting old, too, since it debuted in 2015. However, it is still supported.

Philips reassures customers on Twitter that there is no end date for Bridge v2 support. The company also confirmed to customers that it “is not working on a new bridge either at this time. And that she will therefore continue to work with V2 ".
