The Pod – The high-tech mattress from Eight Sleep that regulates the temperature

Been to The Pod? It’s a smart high-tech mattress that was invented by Eight Sleep.

The special feature of The Pod mattress is that it can regulate the temperature on both sides of the bed. Good news because if there is something in our homes that deserves additional intelligence, it is the mattresses.

Know that we spend a third of our lives in our bed. But surprisingly, unlike other things, we ultimately have little control over our bed; including our mattress. Of course, you can choose between a firm and soft foam, a mattress overlay or a memory foam. But tailor-made comfort does not exist. So I'm going to explain how the Pod mattress works.

This is where sleep technology company Eight Sleep imagined The Pod. The goal: to give people more control over the feel of their mattresses. The smart health connected device allows two people to set different temperature preferences for their side of the bed.

Bed prices start at $ 1995 for a full bed. This bed has four layers that Eight Sleep describes as an "active network" that regulates the heat on both sides of the bed via an application or a remote control. The mattress grid is smart health connected to a mini-computer called a "hub" which records data including the respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature; as well as the sleep phases. It uses them to create personalized sleep fitness reports and adapt to your sleep preferences.

You can also connect your mattress to Hue lamps and other "smart" products, including a coffee maker. Of course, no one needs a mattress that helps them brew coffee automatically, but hey, this is the future.
