The sleep sensor gets a facelift
The start-up Beddit, specialized in sleep monitoring, presented to us, during the Wearable Tech Show, its latest product, the Beddit 2.0, an improved version of its successful sleep sensor.
An international success
Beddit is a young start-up created in 2006 in Helsinki. It was by launching a crowdfunding campaign in 2013 that the company really became known. Their sleep monitoring product, the Beddit, raised over $ 500,000 for a goal set at $ 80,000. At the same time, the start-up was located in Silicon Valley.
Since then, the sleep sensor has passed several hundred thousand copies worldwide. The latter attaches to your mattress and captures your heart and respiratory rate, your sleep cycle and the quality of it.
The editor of objectconnecte.net had the opportunity to do a complete Review last year, and it turned out very positive.
A new, smarter sensor
It’s yesterday when Wearable Tech Show of London, that the start-up has unveiled its new product, the Beddit 2.0, or Beddit Smart. The latter offers exactly the same functionality than its predecessor, except for a few details. Indeed, the first version needed to be turned on at bedtime and off when you wake up.
The Beddit 2.0 detects you, fires alone and automatically communicates with your smartphone as soon as you lie down on the bed. So it informs you more precisely on the duration of your sleep. The user interface has also been revisited and improved. Some functions have been added.
Two other products in development
Moreover, according to one of the managers of Beddit that we met during the WTS, two new products are under development : a sleep sensor for couples (the current version does not collect information for two “sleepers”) as well as one travel sensor, designed to be transported and regularly reinstalled. However, unlike what we can already read on the internet, these are still at the state of prototypes and may not see the light of day this year.
