The smart health connected rod for blind people

[ad_1]

WeWALK is a modern iteration of the white cane used by blind and visually impaired people. Young entrepreneurs from the Young Guru Academy in Turkey (YGA) have teamed up with electronics company Vestel to create this smart health connected rod for the blind.

WeWALK consists mainly of an electronic handle, with an "analog" white cane. While the tip of this conventional cane is used to detect obstacles at the ground level, obstacles at the head are indicated by ultrasonic pulses emitted by the WeWALK. Whenever such dangers are detected, the device warns the user by vibrating his hand by one of the two vibration buttons (left or right).

There is also a light at the front to help visually impaired users see in the dark, as well as a touchpad, which can be used to remotely control an iOS or Android smartphone smart health connected via Bluetooth. This connectivity allows users to use the WeWALK's built-in speakers to receive verbal directional signals from compatible apps such as Google Maps, or use their near-field mic to use Alexa from Amazon. In addition, because the technology is built around an open platform, third-party developers will be able to add their own features.

YGA has already funded WeWALK's local production on the Arikovani crowdfunding platform in Turkey. Today, the company is turning to Indiegogo to expand its reach to other countries. For $ 349, people wishing to pre-order a WeWALK. If everything goes as planned, the delivery will take place in December.

If you would like to know more, visit the IndieGogo crowdfunding website. You can also watch this video to find out how the product works. Finally, know that other products of the same kind exist. I am thinking in particular of XploR, mySmartCane or iCane.
