The Welt smart belt tells you if you are getting fat
The Welt smart belt's mission is to monitoring if you are gaining weight. This project from Samsung's Creative Lab (C-Lab) is now available on the crowdfunding site on the Kickstarter site.
The Welt smart belt was first seen at CES. Its goal, you will understand, is to fight against overeating and obesity. This product is one of the five projects of the Samsung C-Lab. Among the other products developed or under development in this lab, a Rink motion controller for Samsung Gear VR, the TIPtalk bracelet for smartwatches or even smart health connected shoes for golfers and IOFIT athletes.
The technology for tracking overweight is hidden in the belt buckle. This welt tracking technology lets you know your waistline, and, using algorithms, knows if you are experiencing bloating, overeating, or real weight gain. All this information is presented in the form of a graph on the dedicated application.
Waist circumference is a good indicator of health. According to the US Department of Health, waist measurement can help doctors screen for risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. It's also great for tracking your activity throughout the day. Finally, this device also calculates periods of inactivity during the day.
Welt is compatible with iOS and Android and stores data for up to 30 days. The smart health connected belt recharges via microUSB and the battery life is just over 20 days; quite an impressive figure.
Now let's talk about fashion. There are several models of belts: classic, casual and premium all in leather. Prices range up to $ 179 and the color range includes light brown, burgundy, beige, orange, black, blue, cobalt and morange. There are also three types of loops: square, hook and rounded. There are also two female models in light brown and beige. Finally, there are several sizes: small, medium, large and very large.
