Thin Ice – A smart health connected vest for weight loss
Thin Ice smart vest is a smart health connected vest that will allow you to lose weight by lowering your body temperature and therefore by burning the fat that you have accumulated.
Thin Ice is therefore a wearable dedicated to weight loss that works by using cooling thermoreceptors placed along the upper part of the chest and in the back.
Its action will focus on brown fat. Unlike white fat, which stores energy, brown fat cells burn energy to keep your body warm. Thus, brown fat is activated by the cold and can help the body burn white fat (bad fat). So the idea is that by lowering the body temperature, this vest will help you lose weight.
To create the cooling effect, this smart health connected vest uses a set of batteries that power Peltier cooling chips integrated into the vest and an exclusive heat dissipation system. The jacket temperature is controlled via a dedicated application which is compatible for iOS, Android and Windows. In addition to monitoring body temperature, it also allows you to see the estimated amount of calories burned and will reward you with badges when you reach your health goals.
Created by personal trainer and former NCAA athlete, Adam Paulin, this range of smart clothing was developed following a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. This campaign raised just under $ 600,000. The first version of the vest will be sent to backers from next June.
A second generation of jacket is already in preparation. It apparently improves battery life, tracks body temperature, and will wash some of the components. If you want to acquire this new opus, go on the campaign page on Fundrazr. You can pre-order the jacket for a reduced price of $ 165. Delivery is scheduled for December 2016. For this price, you will receive a smart health connected vest, a digital book on dietetics, a cookbook and exercise tips.
