This AI discovered the secret of happiness for us
A team of multidisciplinary scientists has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) in order to detect the factors that contribute to happiness.
We remember thatHitachi had developed a device to measure that feeling. But the study presented here is based on the assumption that we are predisposed to love nature, a condition that we call biophilia. With their algorithm, these researchers from Australian universities and Singapore have analyzed more than 31,000 photos published online.
According to AI, happiness is really in the meadow
In fact, the results of the study confirm this hypothesis, demonstrating a link between a satisfied life, happiness and Mother Nature. So, people all over the world prefer to be green for their recreational activities, vacations and honeymoons.
At the same time, residents of countries with the highest bliss rates tend to take more shots during a happy event. So we take more photos during a wedding or a fun activity in Costa Rica and Finland.
However, the appearance of nature on different activities varies greatly from one country to another.
Useful information in containment time
In fact, this discovery could make the confinement caused by the coronavirus a little less painful for many people. In the world, nearly 1 in 5 people currently stay at health home. But among these some can still come out.
So they could do a little walk in a park. If AI got it right, this little dip in nature will greatly improve morale, even if happiness may still be far away. Obviously, it will also be necessary to respect barrier gestures and social distancing.
But even if you can't go out, you can just open the curtains to let in a ray of sunshine. And why not look good nature documentary ?
In addition to being an innovative use of AI, this study on happiness also represents a advanced for human sciences. While the economic and ecological benefits of ecosystems have been studied extensively, their cultural and social benefits have so far been neglected. Hopefully this study will not be the last.
