Launched on June 27, 2019, on the occasion of the "Clinical Innovation" day organized by the HCL and Lyonbiopôle, the third call for projects aimed at "stimulating health innovation and fostering hospital-industrial collaborations", recalled HCL.

Companies will thus benefit from support and financial support of € 100,000 each to develop their innovation.

Lumeen's project – also led by Prof. Vincent Piriou, anesthesiologist-resuscitator of HCL – is based on a therapeutic virtual reality (VR) solution for preoperative anxiety.

Concretely, Lumeen started from the observation that a surgical intervention can cause real apprehension and create what is called preoperative anxiety. The company thus wants to respond to it via a therapeutic VR medical device for stress reduction and pain perception throughout the journey.

A second project called "Neurodiagnostiv" was rewarded during this call for projects. Supported jointly by the company Netri and Dr. Isabelle Quadrio, hospital biologist, it relates to the in vitro differential diagnosis of neurological disorders.

Interested in the diagnosis of patients with neurocognitive disorders (Alzheimer's, dementia with Lewy bodies or even Parkinson's), this project proposes to develop a neurofluidic device for differential diagnosis in vitro allowing to improve in a personalized way the diagnosis of the whole of these pathologies.

Reinforce "hospital-industrial collaboration"

To apply for this call for projects, several conditions had to be met:

  • develop a medical device or in vitro diagnostic medical device

  • have as main project leaders a binomial composed of an SME member of Lyonbiopôle and a health professional of HCL.

The selection of winners was then made on different criteria: the innovative nature of the project, its medical or medico-economic benefit, the feasibility of the business plan or the relevance of the proposed solution with regard to the priority strategies of public health establishments .

The HCL and Lyonbiopôle will now "support and make these collaborative hospital-industrial projects competitive in order to promote their marketing to the various players in the health sector and their availability to patients," stressed the two partners in their press release.
