Typified unveils a poster that changes color depending on the weather
To check the weather forecast for the day, you can of course look at your smartphone. But Typified, a startup based in Melbourne, Australia, has created something that designer Oli Woods says is more artistic and less intrusive.
Typified is a limited edition poster that changes color depending on the weather. Admit that it's still more stylish than looking at your phone! Made from classic extra thick paper, the typified weather poster is mounted under glass in an oak frame; over a plastic backplate containing electronic components.
But what makes this poster almost magical is its "smart", heat-sensitive ink used to screen print weather symbols. Four hours of the day are listed (8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.) with three of these symbols (a sun, a cloud and a rain / precipitation cloud) assigned to each hour. When the poster receives updated forecasts from the Internet via your health home Wi-Fi network. Throughout the day, its backplate selectively heats one of these symbols. Thus, the corresponding symbol stands out by turning white, while the others blend into the background while remaining blue.
The complete device, because it is a device, weighs 1.6 kg and must be plugged into an electrical outlet. It should be noted that smart ink may not work properly at ambient temperatures above 29 degrees.
If you want to buy the Typified poster, you can do so via its current campaign on Kickstarter. A contribution of 189 Australian dollars will be required to receive it at your health home. This price also includes two years of access to the online weather service. After that, you will have to pay a subscription fee of US $ 7.50 per year. The first deliveries are scheduled for July.
