V-SOS – Vodafone adds new wearables to its V by Vodafone range
Part of the V by Vodafone range, V-SOS was created for the elderly and vulnerable.
V-SOS notably offers a fall detection function allowing four other family members to know that a fall has occurred; via a smartphone app.
The V-SOS wearable also has an SOS button which, when pushed by the user, will share GPS location information so that it can be helped.
Available in gray or blue, the V-SOS bracelet is water resistant and has a battery with a life of one month on a single charge. Obviously, an alert has been provided to indicate that the battery is low.
In addition to V-SOS, Vodafone has also added a second wearable to its V by Vodafone range: the V-Kids smartwatch. The latter is manufactured by Alcatel and offers location tracking via GPS and the possibility of exchanging voice messages using the TCLMove application.
Available in blue and pink, the V-Kids smartwatch is waterproof and allows children to send alerts directly to their parents' phone with the SOS button. Parents can then follow their children's movements via Google Maps or Apple Maps from their phone.
Parents can also define safety zones; a feature also available on other children's smartwatches.
In terms of price, the V-SOS bracelet will cost you around 90 euros. Price to which must be added a monthly subscription of around 5 euros. The V-Kids smartwatch is a little more expensive and also offers the same type of subscription. Personally, this subscription story is, for me, the big black spot of these two products. In addition to these two wearables, Vodafone also announced the release of its health home automation hub V-health home. A hub that also works with Samsung SmartThings products.
