Vapor X: Misfit unveils its new Wear OS watch with Snapdragon 3100

The third generation of Misfit Vapor smart health connected watches has just hit the tip of its nose on the American manufacturer's website, under the name of Vapor X.

Misfit is the brand of bracelets smart health connected cofounded in 2011 by former Apple boss John Sculley, and bought in 2015 by the manufacturer of accessories Fossil. Since then, the company has been producing watches under Wear OS and has just formalized the new addition to its range: the Misfit Vapor X.

The design is still a little refined compared to the Misfit Vapor 2 last year. The watch weighs 43 grams and comes in a single size of 42 mm, an AMOLED display of 1.19 inches. The Misfit Vapor X is the first of the brand to have three buttons on the side, two of which customizable actions. It is available in five dial and bracelet colors.

Snapdragon Wear 3100, but only 512 MB of RAM

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC – the most powerful currently available for smart health connected watches – but only 512 MB of RAM. Even if this amount of memory is fairly standard for a smart health connected watch, for the price, we could have waited at least 1 GB. Like its predecessor, the device runs on Wear OS and embeds 4 GB of storage, with a bonus chip GPS. The watch is water resistant up to 30 meters and also has a heart sensor, altimeter, accelerometer, and gyroscope.

Side autonomy, as for the previous Vapor 2, we must expect to hold 24 hours with a full battery. The magnetic charger still allows 80% recharge in 50 minutes. New in the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip, a power saving mode doubles the battery life to two days.

The Vapor X is labeled on the American site Misfit priced at 280 dollars (252 euros HT), with a temporary introductory price lowered to 200 dollars (180 euros HT).
