[Versus] Optimize your nights with a sleep sensor

smart health connected objects are everywhere, even in your bed … They offer you an analysis of your sleep rhythms, your heart rate, … In order to increase your sleep time. It's a great idea, but when everyone has the same thing for you, how do you know which of these sleep sensors you are going to let in your bed?

In order to help you make the choice that best meets your expectations and your lifestyle, we have tested and put in the same round three smart health connected objects for sleep: Beddit, Sevenhugs and the Sleep Expert Sensor. So follow the sandman to be able to sleep on your two ears …

Design and ergonomics of the sleep sensor

The three sleep sensors that we are going to compete for you have all three a very different design, so if all three slip into your bed to watch your sleep, they do it in different ways. Beddit comes in the form of a tongue that slides under you between the bottom sheet and the mattress, Sevenhugs suggests placing a small square next to his head which captures the data collected during your sleep, while the Sleep Expert Sensor is in the form of a disc that slides under your mattress

So this will be played out between the Sleep Expert Sensor and SevenHugs, since Beddit has the disadvantage of not staying in place for a long time especially if you belong to the category of sleepers sleepers … Sevenhugs has opted for a good compromise, but its small square sensor can get lost in your bed overnight and it is very small! Finally Sleep Expert Sensor remains the most discreet while capturing as much information as possible, the disc does not interfere and as it is held between the mattress and the box spring, there is no risk of losing it.

In terms of the connectivity of the three sleep sensors, only Sevenhugs works totally wireless, in fact, thanks to its independent base which communicates remotely with its sensors, there is no wire sticking out or which could be annoying to connect… This wireless operation is not present in the two other sensors sleep and it's a shame… Indeed, the Beddit must be plugged in to work, this can be problematic especially if you have other devices to connect in your room and few sockets and above all, it is not very aesthetic… Even if the Beurer's Sleep Expert Sensor must connect too, it is placed under the mattress, it is more discreet but not very aesthetic also.

Even though they all have pretty much the same functionality, some of these sleep sensors are more complete than others… For example, Sevenhugs offers to control the air quality of your health home as well as the heat peaks while you sleep. If the latter seems less useful than a control of the heart rate or the phases of sleep, finally it is very useful for correlate restless sleep with less than optimal air quality.

Sevenhugs also offers a Smart Alarm, just like Beddit, which wakes the user in a light sleep phase. Rather smart for the grumpy when waking up, but in practice the Smart Alarm Beddit and the Smart Alarm of Sevenhugs always woke me up at the requested time, was it in a light sleep phase? The mystery remains…

In terms of the other functionalities present in the three smart health connected objects, they are quite similar… They collect data on sleep rhythm, time to fall asleep, time of deep sleep phases, snoring, … This allows us to have a more than complete overview of our sleep and to be able to set goals for falling asleep, deep sleep times, and finally to wake up much more rested.

The differences between the different sleep analyzers are not significant in their functionality, but especially in the installation and use of their associated applications. Sevenhugs remains the big loser in this category, yet essential … Despite more advanced features that allow you to have an overview of your sleep but also of the house, its application is totally to review ! Not only is it not easy to use, but it also does not always work and pairing andactivating the little square can be very laborious.

For their part, the other two smart health connected objects for sleep, Beddit and the Sleep Expert Sensor remain fairly similar. The connection with the user's smartphone is very easy and the results are visible over different durations, so the user can track your sleep progress over the week or even over the month. With the statistics presented, all you have to do is adjust your bedtime, sleep goal according to your previous results. However, the Sleep Expert Sensor presents the results of its application in a slightly too formal manner which makes it less attractive than that of the Beddit. It's a shame because they are both equivalent.

From a point of view aesthetic and ergonomic, the three applications are not equivalent… However in this category, Sevenhugs is the big loser unfortunately because of an application which seems simple at first glance but which is quite complicated to understand and makes using the sensor almost impossible (problem of pairing between the smartphone and the sensor, difficult to understand how the results are displayed, …) despite its advantage of being wireless …

In terms of the Beddit and Sleep Expert Sensor applications, they both present the same data, however the Beddit app is more fun, colorful and intuitive, it gives a little life to a series of figures and graphs … We must not forget that these sleep sensors are intended for the general public!

Optimize your sleep for two, is it possible?

For most people, either we share our bed with our other half, sometimes their children or even their dog … So a question arises, how to be sure that it is his data that is recorded and not that of the man or woman who snores next ? The sleep sensor Beddit is only used for one person and it is noted in the notice that the tape must above all not encroach on the place of the second person in the bed, at the risk of distorting the data … problem remains the same for the Sleep Expert Sensor. Finally, it is the Sevenhugs once again which scores with its sensor system, because it just add a profile on the app that will match another sensor… Too bad this is the only positive point of the Sevenhugs…

>> Winner of round 4: Sevenhugs

The sleep sensor Beddit is available for sale online from 100 euros. Sevenhugs is also available for sale from 100 euros, but this price includes two sensors, it can thus be used by two people. As for the sleep sensor Sleep Expert Sensor, it's still twice as expensive as the others, since it will cost you 199.99 euros.

In terms of price, the best compromise seems to be the purchase of the Sevenhugs, a pity that the design and the functioning of the application do not follow …

Overall, although the three sleep sensor seem similar, for us the the big winner remains the Beddit. Because not only does it offer a sleep tracking and a goal program to optimize your sleep time, its application also remains the most fun, intuitive and easy to use. Even if the tongue can move, it remains discreet and does not disturb during sleep. Overall, it has an excellent quality / price ratio.

So if you are tired of waking up grumpy and even more tired the day before, you know what you have to do.
