Wair, a smart health connected scarf that filters the air you breathe

The startup Wair won the Cisco challenge with a fashion accessory, a smart health connected scarf capable of filtering the ambient air we breathe.
At the origin of this innovation is a Parisian, Caroline Van Renterghem, who launched the start-up Wair after finding out during a bike ride in Paris that emission masks were really not very aesthetic. With an idea that combines fashion and health, this entrepreneur won the Young Entrepreneurs Award of the Cisco challenge.
Wair initially allows benefit from information on the air quality around you through a mobile application using public data and open data. Within the application, everyone can configure their profile by indicating the allergies that concern them and the types of alerts desired. Later, the startup also plans to launch a smart health connected scarf, a real barrier against surrounding pollution. The filtering part, hidden in a small pocket, will be smart health connected to your smartphone to measure the air quality in turn and indicate when to replace the filter.
Thanks to the Cisco challenge, Wair won 15,000 euros + 20,000 euros in equipment in addition to benefit from advice from many Cisco employee volunteers for one year.
If you’re interested in creating smart health connected objects, meet at Startup Weekend Paris the weekend of May 8, 2015.
