WattUp Mid Field – Revolutionary wireless charging system
If you've always dreamed of recharging your smartphone without connecting it to a cable or placing it on a charging station, today I suggest you discover the WattUp Mid Field.
WattUp Mid Field is the very first “power-at-a-distance” wireless charging system approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Thanks to it, you will be able to charge your devices remotely and up to three meters!
San Jose-based start-up Energous announced Tuesday that it has received the first FCC certification for remote wireless charging with its WattUp Mid Field transmitter. The transmitter converts electricity into radio frequencies, then transmits energy to nearby devices equipped with a corresponding receiver. A technology different from the resonance induction method used by the Pi wireless charging system. WattUp Mid Field also offers greater range than Belkin and Mophie chargers that require physical contact with the device.
The WattUp can charge multiple devices simultaneously and should work on any device; phones, tablets, keyboards, headphones, etc. As I told you, the only requirement is that these devices have the right receiver. In addition, the WattUp ecosystem is independent of the manufacturer of these devices; like WiFi. It means that you you will still be able, for example, to charge your Samsung phone even if the transmitter is manufactured by Sony or Apple.
Although Energous does not yet have retail-ready devices, the company plans to showcase its technology at CES 2018, to be held January 9-12 in Las Vegas.
