Choosing the best smart thermostat isn't easy. In recent years, the number of smart thermostats available on the market has exploded. This article will therefore try to help you choose the best thermostat for your house or apartment.

A smart health connected thermostat can help you reduce these costs by activating your HVAC system when you plan to be at health home; and turning it off when you don't think you need it.

The Nest Thermostat is probably the best known. Besides, the company deserves to be congratulated for having moved the market so much. But for me the best choice for smart thermostats is the Ecobee4. The big change from Ecobee3? The new model ports and the Amazon Echo clone. Not sure if this addition was absolutely necessary, but it did not cause the cost of the thermostat to explode.

Unlike other thermostats, which only measure the temperature of a house in one place, where it is located, the Ecobee4 allows you to place sensors in multiple rooms of your house. The Ecobee4 is also compatible with just about every other smart device you can imagine, including Samsung SmartThings, Wink, Haiku ceiling fans and Apple's HomeKit ecosystem.

The best smart thermostat after Ecobee4

The Google division has worked harder than anyone else to build a complete smart health home ecosystem with its own products. Nest Camera, Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; as well as a wide range of third-party products.

However, Nest products, including the brand's thermostat, cannot be an advisor to those who invest, or want to invest, in Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem.

The best budget smart thermostat

If your budget is limited and you don't need a galaxy of smart health connected devices at health home, the Lyric T5 from Honeywell is a great choice. While not as sophisticated as the Nest Thermostat or the Ecobee4 Thermostat, it is also much cheaper than these two models.

Another option: the entry-level version of the Nest Thermostat; the Nest E. Made with plastic instead of glass and stainless steel, it's much cheaper than the brand's premium product. However, it is not able to control some of the most sophisticated HVAC systems on the market. Make sure it is compatible with yours before buying one.
