What mood are you in? Being knows it!

In recent months, we’ve heard loads of devices touting their ability to determine the wearer's emotions. The latest, we are thinking in particular of the Puls smartwatch by Will.i.am, which made it one of its spearheads. During the CES, I had the opportunity to meet the spokesperson for a Singaporean start-up called Zensorium whose the goal is to determine your mood thanks to its Being bracelet.

Anxious? Excited? Normal or calm?

Unfortunately, I could not see the bracelet in action, I was told that the model displayed was only a non-functional prototype. However, here's what it is. Thanks to a heart rate and blood pressure measurement system, the bracelet / watch can thus determine if you are in an anxious, excited, normal or calm state. Depending on the result obtained, the wearer will kindly receive some advice on their mobile application (iOS or Android) to better manage their emotions. We don’t know what algorithm society uses to determine the mood we’re in, and that’s quite opaque. The spokesperson says only that "studies with psychologists and neuroscientists have been carried out". In addition to this measurement, Being is also able to measure standard activity tracking data, ranging from distance traveled to calories burned and sleep.

On the autonomy side, the Zensorium bracelet should last 72 hours, according to the information we have obtained. The device itself consumes a lot of energy since it has an OLED and touch screen, which reduces battery life. We were also told that the aluminum alloy device is water resistant to 3 meters.

If you trust their technology, now is the time to get started. The Being bracelet is available for pre-order for $ 169 on their website, and will then be sold for $ 199. The first deliveries will take place in March 2015.
