White mulberry leaves

The white mulberry leaves has the Chinese name Sang Ye, it has a refreshing action and clarification of the lung and liver. It is often used to treat symptoms such as headache, fever, cough due to external heat, wind or drought lung, red and swollen eyes.

Indications:

1) Disperse wind and clarifies the heat

In attack the external heat-generating wind fever, headache, sore throat and cough. Advise against the common cold or flu.

2) Quiet liver and clarifies eyes

When troubles affecting the eyes due to excessive heat or wind-heat in the liver, or because of liver Yin empty.

But when dizziness due to a rise of Yang liver, causing symptoms such as red eyes, sore eyes, dry eyes, or black spots before his eyes.

3) Clarify and moistens the lungs drought

When drought lung with cough, dry mouth, or lung heat with thick yellow sputum.

4) Refreshes the blood and stops bleeding

During mild case of vomiting of blood due to heat in the blood.

Contraindication

Bo He – 薄荷 (Menthae Haplocalycis)

Jing Jie – 荆芥 (Herba seu flos schizonepetae tenuifoliae)

When fever and cough:

Notes

– Sang Ye (sheet of white mulberry) can be used externally as eye washing and skin disorders.

– When the leaves are discounted and the juice drunk as tea, they help slow the absorption of monosaccharide in the stomach and lower the level of sugar in the blood after meals.

– Depending on the time of harvesting the effect of mulberry leaf will be more or less pronounced on certain actions. For example, the old leaves picked after the first frost (called: the winter mulberry leaf – 冬 桑叶) are considered more powerful to dispel wind and clear heat.
