Wireless stethoscope to monitoring asthma

If your child has a respiratory illness such as asthma, doctor visits can be quite frequent. But all of that could quickly change with StethoMe, a wireless stethoscope for monitoring asthma at health home.

StethoMe was developed by a team of scientists from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland. The latter has been trying to develop this product for a few years in order to simplify the lives of patients.

StethoMe - The wireless stethoscope to monitor asthma

So how does this wireless smart health connected stethoscope work? Guided by an application, users discover on their smartphone where to place the device on their child's body. StethoMe then records their heart rate, body temperature and the sound of their lungs when they breathe. This data is then processed using algorithms based on machine learning, which were obtained through tests performed on thousands of patients with various conditions.

Information is also displayed on the back of the device to view all child health alerts in real time. Obviously, as I said, all the information collected is also transmitted wirelessly to the user's smartphone; where they are stored as a health record that can be sent to the family doctor if there is a problem or doubt about the results obtained.

StethoMe has reportedly been successfully tested in several hospitals and is now in the prototype stage ready for production. Its designers are currently looking for investors to finance its commercialization. Hopefully their search for funding will succeed because this product seems more than successful and easy to use.

I, who am not necessarily a fan of telemedicine, in the current state of the tools available and the training of doctors, this product does not seem to fall into certain well known pitfalls for this type of products. Case to follow!
