Xiaomi develops a smart health connected mask facing COVID-19
While wearing a mask has become mandatory in many countries because of the COVID-19, the manufacturer Xiaomi is preparing a smart health connected version, the Smart Mask.
Some companies want convert their factories to make medical equipment out of stock, including masks. Others donate or add functionality to their services, as is the case withApple's Siri voice assistant. For its part, the Chinese Xiaomi will launch a brand new product, a mask that can, among other things, measure air quality.
Smart Mask: Xiaomi prepares a mask for an uncertain future
If other tech companies seem to be providing temporary solutions to a global emergency, Xiaomi is banking on the future. His decision to manufacture a mask reveals what the firm expects from the future: more pollution, more epidemics.
In fact, Smart Mask will not be the first smart mask for Xiaomi. The company already sells a mask called Mi AirPOP PM2.5 in China. However, this new model is only in the early stages of its development. Thus, a patent spotted by the MyDrivers site and relayed by Notebookcheck is the only proof of its existence.
A truly smart health connected, even intelligent mask
From these snippets of information, we should expect something more than a regular mask, even better than theAusAir. The two English-speaking sites therefore ensure that Xiaomi's Smart Mask will be able to measure air quality thanks to special sensors.
Even more surprisingly, it can warn its owner in the event of a reduction in the capacity of its lungs. But if these advanced features improve the quality of life in an area where the air is very polluted, the device will not detect the coronavirus (or any other virus).
It should also be noted that this is currently only a concept. As Apple’s many patents attest, an idea can stay the same and never end up on the market.
