Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet officially unveiled

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 bracelet has finally been officially revealed. For several weeks, the CEO of Xiaomi has been sparing the suspense with photos and short sentences. So what are the improvements made by this new smart health bracelet from the Chinese brand?

The Mi Band 2 bracelet is an activity tracker equipped with a 0.42-inch OLED screen covered by a resistant glass and an anti-fingerprint coating. It is also equipped with a physical button located below the screen which allows you to scroll through three different screens; time, steps, and heart rate information. This screen will also allow you to display a few more notifications from your smartphone, will vibrate when you receive calls or text messages and may unlock your phone.

Xiaomi has also reworked the tracker's bracelet. The brand is now using silicone made from a more breathable anti-sweat material that will be available in black, orange, green and blue. Obviously, everything is IP67 certified; ie resistant to water and dust. You can wear it in the shower or do the dishes with it.

In terms of tracking, the optical heart rate monitoring would be more precise … which is not really very difficult compared to that of the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S. A new pedometer algorithm coupled with ultra low power accelerometers will also provide more precision. What about sleep? The Mi Band 2 bracelet will always offer sleep monitoring to better understand your habits and the duration of deep sleep. Another improvement: vibrations will warn you of a too long period of inactivity.

On the Mii Fit application side, compatible with Android 4.4 or later and iPhone under iOS 7.0, great work has been undertaken on the ergonomic side. Overall, everything is more current and better organized. It was said that the previous application was really awful!

My biggest question about the new Xiaomi smart health connected bracelet was about the battery. And be aware that with its 70mAh battery, the bracelet can work for up to 20 days on standby.
