Xiaomi Mi Watch: like an Apple Watch look with WearOS, three times cheaper

The Xiaomi Mi Watch is now official. The brand's first smart health connected watch runs on WearOS with a MIUI interface. It has a large battery and a Snapdragon 3100 4G compatible chip, all for a price three times lower than that of the Apple Watch from which it draws its design.

Xiaomi is already renowned for its smart health connected bracelets, the Mi Band 4 being the latest addition to its catalog, with a full-color screen. Fans of the brand who impatiently awaited its first foray into the smartwatch market are now served. Xiaomi organized a conference in China this November 5, 2019. As expected, the company did not only present the Mi CC9 Pro or Mi Note 10. It was also the opportunity to discover the new Xiaomi Mi Watch , a smart health connected watch that draws heavily on the appearance of Apple Watches. But it is inside that the watch expresses its identity with an impressive wealth of functionality and a clearly eye-catching technical sheet.

Xiaomi unveils the Mi Watch, its first smart health connected watch under WearOS

The new Xiaomi Mi Watch has a 44mm rectangular housing that accommodates a curved AMOLED screen. Its diagonal is 1.78 inch, with a resolution of 326 PPI. The watch has a ceramic body and a crown flanked on the right side. The latter offers a vibration motor and a haptic feedback system. It allows you to navigate the watch interface, but also to control the temperature and volume.

The Mi Watch runs on WearOS but is overlooked by a MIUI overlay whose appearance should be familiar to those who own a Xiaomi smartphone. The watch has more than 40 pre-installed applications, including managing calls, emails, messages, music and even the alarm. The Xiaomi Mi Watch inherits the activity tracker features from the Mi Band wristbands. It also offers heart rate monitoring functions, a sensor to measure the VO2max during intense exercises, but also a function of sleep quality monitoring or body energy.

Xiaomi Mi Watch has a 4G Snapdragon 3100 chip

Inside the Xiaomi Mi Watch, there is a Snapdragon 3100 4G chip including four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz. The watch is therefore eSIM compatible, which allows you to connect to the Internet via a cellular network, but also to make and receive calls independently. It also offers GPS, connectivity Bluetooth, WiFi, but also NFC for your contactless payments.

One of the big advantages of the smart health connected watch is its battery which has an impressive capacity of 570mAh. By way of comparison, the Huawei Watch GT 2, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and the Apple Watch Series 5 carry 455 mAh, 340 mAh, and 296 mAh batteries, respectively. The brand promises 36 hours of battery life, more than two days on a single charge. The watch is also waterproof, allowing you to dive with it without fear of being followed.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch is available for pre-order now in China at the price of 1299 yuan, a little less than 167 €, which is almost three times less than the base price of the Apple Watch Series 5. The watch will be delivered starting November 11. The price and availability date in Europe will be announced tomorrow.
