Xiaomi unveils its smart health connected running shoes

New pairs of smart health connected shoes today: the smart health connected running shoes of the Chinese giant Xiaomi. Their biggest flaw right now: they are only available in China.

These smart health connected running shoes therefore mark Xiaomi’s arrival in the smart clothing market. Designed in partnership with Intel, these shoes should interest more than one Sunday runner!

Thanks to Intel’s small Curie sensor, these shoes will let you know the distance traveled, your running speed or the calories burned during your jogging session. Shoes can also detect if you are walking, running, or climbing. In short, at the end of the day, you will be able to have a good overview of your daily activity on the dedicated application.

According to Xiaomi, the battery of these shoes would have a lifespan of 60 days; a figure quite correct but after all essential. You can’t imagine having to recharge your shoes all day. But from this information comes a question: what is the weight of this battery? Isn't it too heavy?

As I said, these little smart health connected running shoes are only available in China. As always, the Chinese giant first chose to market its new product on its local market. They will be available in April at a price of 299 Yuan; about 40 euros. A whole range of colors will be available. Even a pair of fluorescent shoes will be available for those who like to run at night.

This new example of smart clothing shows us that companies are ready and want to market this type of wearables. Shoes seem to be products of choice. Many companies have already presented models. I am thinking in particular of Under Armor which recently unveiled its SpeedForm Gemini 3. Nor should we forget the Rhythm, these little smart health connected dance shoes that I presented to you last week.
