You dreamed of it, Samsung did it: discover the fire extinguisher

The firevase does not only allow your flowers to rest in the middle of the table, it can now extinguish the start of a fire. In South Korea, a country where household fires are particularly destructive, Cheil Worlwdide, a company belonging to the Samsung group, created the firevase, a fire extinguisher.

The idea may seem absurd but maybe not that much after all. In South Korea, domestic fires are increasing, there are no less than 10,000 per year. Since 2017, a law has however required residents to have one fire extinguisher per dwelling. Far from convincing Koreans, more than 58% of them still do not have one. According to Worldwide, the company that developed the firevase, ”Even people who have one [extinguisher] don’t really care. They usually store it in a hard-to-reach place and completely forget itt “.

The power of the flowers

Since the Koreans remained indifferent to the awareness campaigns, we created one [extinguisher] which was unique in order to arouse their desire to own one“. From September to December 2018, an insurance company distributed more than 100,000 vases as part of a prevention campaign according to Deezen. A ehealth of a national celebrity putting out a fire has been released online and in select theaters. Following this campaign, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance said that 81% of those affected now said they were more aware of the danger.

More aesthetic than a fire extinguisher, the Firevase would have more easily attracted Koreans. The number of households with a fire extinguisher has increased by 8% since the awareness campaign.

How it works ?

If you find yourself facing a fire, all you have to do is throw the vase into the fire to release the potassium carbonate discreetly stored inside. Contact with air causes a chemical reaction that removes oxygen from the air, the primary factor in the spread of flame. Following the success of the campaign, the company decided to produce and distribute an additional 200,000 vases.
